About Me

Who is Lisa Brookes Kift, MFT?

I am a California therapist (MFT) with over 15 years of therapy experience with individuals, couples and groups.  I offer online therapy (video) and phone counseling services to residents of this state, from Santa Clara, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and elsewhere.  For those outside of California, I also also provide Emotional Health and Relationship Consultations – not therapy but one time, educational feedback in response to a specific question.

I began my private practice in San Diego and currently practice in the San Francisco Bay Area (Larkspur, Marin County).  A number of years were spent living in Los Angeles in between.  In the Covid world, I currently see a limited number of face-to-face clients at my office in Larkspur but the bulk of my clients use my teletherapy services; from Santa Clara, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and everywhere in between.

A few of my practice focuses:

  • Covid impact
  • family of origin work
  • relationship repair
  • stress / life balance
  • worry / anger / sadness
  • communication in relationships

I believe happiness partially comes in the sweet spot between emotional health and satisfying relationships.  With the added stressors of our time, this may feel harder to attain.  By helping you identify and remove the obstacles holding you back, we will work to empower you with the tools you need to grow.

I am also a writer and creator of LoveAndLifeToolbox.com.  One of the first therapist websites online, it’s a  packed with emotional health and relationships resources.  A frequent consultant for online media, I’ve appeared in CNN, HuffingtonPost, Shape, MensHealth and others.

Home for me is Mill Valley, California, at the foot of Mt. Tamalpais.  I am a mom, a wife, a dog owner, a fitness enthusiast and a nature lover.
