Your emotional health is a critical indicator  of how you function individually and in your relationships.  There are many obstacles that can prevent people from being as happy or as fulfilled as they’d like to be, whether it be life stressors, anxiety, depression or unresolved wounds from the past.  Friends and family can be supportive to a certain degree but sometimes you need more.

I view people as a mosaic of sorts; a compilation of historical experiences, personality traits, present circumstances and the unique ways they cope (or struggle to cope) with challenges.  Some seek individual therapy with clarity around what’s holding them back.  Others aren’t as clear yet know they want to feel better and something isn’t working.  Individual therapy can not only help you be the best you can be for YOU but for those you care about too.

We need to clearly identify the issues at hand.

We must clearly understand why the issues exist.  There are often really good reasons why you are stuck.  In order to move forward, knowledge is power.

If relevant, we will uncover any unhealthy roots tangled up in a difficult family of origin experience or other trauma.

We will work towards resolution of your concerns via increased resilience, self-compassion, improved coping mechanisms and trying new ways of being and thinking about yourself that better serve you.

I believe that emotional and relationship health are deeply intertwined.  If you struggle in relationships as well, it’s important to be able to hold a mirror up to yourself and honestly assess your role.
